Class Schedule
Quakertown at The Woodlands

 

All classes are held at Quakertown Quilts at the Woodlands in The Woodlands, Texas.  We do not cancel any classes regardless of number of students that sign up. Therefore, our class fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Your spot is guaranteed upon payment of class fee. Class supplies may be purchased at time of registration or during class times with a 15% discount. We do appreciate the opportunity to supply any materials you may need for your classes.

Beginning Classes

Basic sewing skills are required.

Beginning quilter should have knowledge of rotary cutting and basic hand and machine sewing.

Easy Machine Quilting 101

This class is designed to give you the confidence to start machine quilting those wall hangings and quilts you are accumulating. Class will cover: starting and stopping your quilting stitches, quilting “in the ditch”, free motion quilting, marking a design, following a marked design, using quilting stencils, learning about threads, needles and batting. All this and you learn how to BREATHE at the same time! This is a two day class.  Jan Thompson, $50

Beginning Rotary Cutting!

Do you want to learn to quilt, but not sure where to begin?  This class is for all those wanting to get started.  You will learn to use the rotary cutter and how to measure with the ruler and info on fabrics.  Getting a good foundation is the key to success!  Delores Wood, $30

Appliqué the Needle Turn Way

If you have ever enjoyed looking at appliqué  and wanted to learn how they do that, then this is the class for you. You will be taught by an experienced teacher who will teach you the Piece of Cake Way. This class will meet once a month for four months. At the end of the summer you will have a beautiful wall hanging.  Judy Purgason, $60

Six Minute Circle Project

Can you make a circle block in 6 minutes? I believe you can. If you can draw around a circular object, then you can sew a perfect circle in 6 minutes. Join me for this fast, fun, fat-quarter friendly project and learn the “6 minute circle” technique.  Get the look of circular appliqué without hand sewing.  Tammy Minnich, $42

Rail Fence Quilt

If you know how to use your rotary cutter and mat, you are now ready to make this stunning quilt.  Very simple blocks that look more complicated once it is sewn together.  Beginners, this is a fun class and a great looking quilt!  Dolores Wood, $45

Disappearing Nine-Patch

This is a basic 9-patch block that has magic! The magic is that the sewn 9-patch block will be cut in half vertically and horizontally resulting in 4 squares that are turned and sewn back together.  All the quilts will look different because of the arrangement of the blocks.  This is a fast and easy class for beginners or the advanced quilter.  Jill Sanders-Waldie, $45

Bull's Eye Quilt

Our reluctance to piece curved seams gave birth to the raw-edged Bull’s Eye block. This is the most relaxing quilt you will ever make. We will cut circles freehand, and nothing has to match except the corners of the squares. Machine washing the quilt after it is quilted adds texture. Join the Mystery Quilt Club and become a quilt sleuth in this class. The group spends one day creating a new quilt top with fellow mystery lovers. You uncover clues while unraveling the quilt’s mystery block one seam at a time. French Braid Wall Quilt

Weave a variety of fabrics into an eye-catching French Braid wall quilt. Highlight a wonderful large-scale print by surrounding it with this easy piecing technique. Create the gleaming effects of this French Braid wall quilt by selecting a progressively shaded range of fabrics for a lovely variety of color. Although the French Braid quilt looks complicated, it is simple to piece and once you’ve learned the technique, the variations are endless. Tammy Minnich, $42

T-Shirt Quilt Class
